As we’ve said before, there’s plenty to love about Maitland, and this fabulous regional city just keeps on growing in popularity.
Altitude has recently expanded our brand to Maitland, joining together with Roseanne Gaut and her expert team of real estate professionals.
Meet Roseanne Gaut
At Altitude, we have always been impressed by Roseanne’s wealth of real estate knowledge and her impeccable reputation for service. Roseanne ran Dowling Real Estate Maitland for almost a decade. Now that Altitude Real Estate has joined forces with Roseanne and her team under the Altitude brand, we’re experiencing first hand her dedication and passion to achieving outstanding results for her clients in the Maitland area.
We sat down with Roseanne to talk about her career, becoming a partner with Altitude and the growing popularity of Maitland.
Roseanne, we’re all delighted to have you on the Altitude team in 2021. Tell us how you ended up working in real estate in Maitland?
I grew up at Lake Macquarie in the Belmont area and my family still lives there, so I have always had a strong connection to the Newcastle and Hunter area. I met my husband, Mark, when we were both students at Belmont High and his career in policing took us to several locations in NSW. We ended up returning to the area, and moved to Maitland over 22 years ago. We absolutely love the rural lifestyle Maitland offers, that is balanced by the convenience of being so close to a variety of services and facilities.
I suppose I fell into Real Estate, as I had always loved looking at houses, as well as renovating and decorating. It seemed like a good match for my skills, and so I started in property management 20 years ago at Dowling Real Estate. It really has been the perfect career for me.
I spent 11 years as a property manager, and managed to double the number of properties we managed. Almost a decade ago I was given the wonderful opportunity to buy the business. I transitioned from Property Management to Director and Sales Person. It was a steep learning curve but I love a challenge, and my team and I have built a great referral business with many locals seeking our advice regardless of if they are a current client or not.
You’ve got a strong reputation in the real estate industry and we’ve even heard that your clients often become friends, repeat clients and sometimes even employees?
Thank you. Well that has actually happened, and I really do pride myself on doing the very best I can for my clients.
What made you want to partner with Altitude?
I’m always on a constant quest to do better in everything I do. I love learning and I was keen to take the business to the next level.
When a mutual contact introduced us to Altitude it was because they thought our business goals and values were aligned. From our very first meeting knew it was a match made in heaven. Joining the Altitude brand means that we have the ability to scale and extend our reach to help even more clients across the Hunter Region. It has been the key to getting the business we have dreamt of and are eternally grateful that we have found a like-minded, ambitious and professional team to do this with.
Thanks Roseanne – the feeling is mutual. We’ve admired the way you ran your business with honesty and integrity over the years. What’s your real estate philosophy?
I try and do things differently and take a customised approach to rentals or sales. My philosophy is to be client focussed and deliver exceptional service. I’m committed to growth, both personally and within the business, and part of this means caring about the client’s needs and putting that first in everything. So I deliver a personalised service, and I genuinely listen to their needs and find the solutions that will best suit them.
Where do you see the Maitland property market headed in the next few years?
The median house price in Maitland is currently $441,500 and rents are $370 per week according to realestate.com.au. Over the years Maitland has become a bit of a property hotspot, and we’ve seen 40% price growth over the past five years. There’s demand from locals but also buyers who want to swap life in a city for more space and a better lifestyle in areas like Maitland, Newcastle and Lake Macquarie.
Maitland is well connected. We’re just 30 minutes to the Hunter Valley, 45 minutes to Newcastle and some wonderful beaches, and 45 minutes to the mines and Singleton. We have a train station, we’re close to both the Expressway and Motorway, and there’s work in a wide variety of industries. We’ve got great amenities, like the Maitland Aquatic Centre, Maitland Park, a new sportsground, art gallery, great schools, hospitals and more.
We have an excellent lifestyle and a rich architectural history, with many of the buildings along High Street are grand, historic and beautiful. The popular village of Morpeth with its quaint shops and eateries is just along the river and we also have the Levee Precinct in the heart of Maitland with a vast array of shopping and dining.
I can only Maitland’s popularity – and house prices – rising!
